Our culture and way of life are captured by the word Minobimaadiziwin which means
“the good life”. Minobimaadiziwin is a way of life that acknowledges the Creator’s laws, and respect for people, nature, and land.
Our good way of life is passed across generations in a language that defines our purpose and connection with all that is around us. Our relationships are based on respect, love, honesty, and value cooperation and mutual support.
We share what we learn and pass our knowledge to those who will follow in our footsteps. The law of our Creator governs our relationship with nature and is one of sustaining and protecting our land, waters, and the creatures with whom we seek a sustainable balance.
All these things together lead to Minobimaadiziwin – a good life – and that is the essence of our Anishinaabe culture.
